Panelists:
Roselyn Cosantino – Women and Violence: Stories from Guatemala
Roselyn is Associate Professor of Spanish and Women’s Studies at Penn State University and is an expert on violence against women in conflict and post-conflict Guatemala. She is a 2011 Fulbright Fellow in Guatemala, where she is working on women, peace, and security through the implementation of U.N. Security Council Resolutions 1325,1820, 1888, and 1889.

Lee Ann De Reus – Women and Violence: Stories from the Congo
Lee Ann is Associate Professor of Human Development and Family and Women’s Studies at Penn State University. She is the co-founder of a nonprofit organization to raise awareness of the crisis for women and girls in DRC. Dr Reuss uses her research with survivors of genocide in Chad and DRC to inform and raise public awareness about gender-based violence.

Carol Rittner, RSM – General Introduction to the topic, Women and Violence Carol is Distinguished Professor of Holocaust and Genocide Studies at the Richard Stockton College of NJ. She has published numerous books and articles on the Holocaust and other genocides of the 20th and 21st centuries, focusing during the past decade on gender violence. She is the co-author of Mercy Global Concern’s 2011 publication, Are Women Human? Violence Against Women and Girls.

Deirdre Mullan, RSM – Director, Mercy Global Concern
Deirdre represents the worldwide Sisters of Mercy at the U.N. and is the co-author of Mercy Global Concern’s 2011 publication, Are Women Human? Violence Against Women and Girls. She will moderate the panel and the discussion. After the seminar Mercy Global Concern will launch another in its book series on the topic, Are Women Human? Violence Against Women and Girls.
